SiCAT taylors to specific catalytic process needs dimensional and porosity characteristics of its β-SiC products;
in addition heat or chemical surface treatments help tune the chemical composition of the surface layer;
the outermost layers within a thickness of up to 2 to 3nm contain silicon oxi-carbides and silica,
along eventually with some residual carbon; amounts of residual carbon can typically range between 0% and 3% weight,
while silica and other silicon oxide contents can be set in a range of close to 0% and up to 10% weight.
